Our aim is to make our tuition as enjoyable as possible, and to provide students with the best tuition in the performing arts. For this to be a reality, it is necessary to have in place some general guidelines and policies, and ask that we work together in this regard. This agreement defines the terms necessary to maintain standards and ensure students gain the maximum benefit from their membership.
Tuition is available through membership only and is at the total discretion of Cedar Music & Performing Arts. Discretion however, is exercised reasonably and in accordance with the law.
All fees are paid monthly in advance via Direct Debit. You will always receive advanced warning of the debit, and invoices will be sent separately via email to the primary guardian’s provided email address. Membership fees are based on an annual average and payable in 12 equal monthly instalments.
In the event that fees are not received on time, we reserve the right to suspend or cancel membership until payment has been brought up to date. However, student’s places will not be held under these circumstances and may be offered to another student.
Attendance is essential to students’ development and is therefore a requirement of membership with Cedar. Missed lessons are non-refundable.
As a general policy and to remain fair to other students, lessons will commence on time regardless of students’ punctuality. We encourage students to arrive in good time as is fitting with a professional performing ethic, and our tutors may exercise discretion to disallow entry if students are disruptively late for lessons. Attendance is especially important with regards to preparation for performances, and students may be withdrawn from a performance if attendance is inadequate.
Membership may be suspended or cancelled if periods of long absence occur without due communication with Cedar MPA.
Lesson formats vary between classes and disciplines. Most however, run weekly at their designated location. Lessons will run for approximately 44 – 46 lessons per annum, with breaks during common holiday periods to best tie in with academic term times. Our term dates will be available well in advance via our website. No refunds will be payable for absences.
We endeavour to inspire an environment of encouragement, equality and respect, amongst staff and students alike. It is important to Cedar that these values are carried through to every aspect of the school.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to us, and as such, we have a zero tolerance towards bullying, abuse, violence, or harassment, which will result in immediate expulsion from the school and potentially dealt with by legal means.
Parents and students are required to treat all staff and fellow students with due respect and consideration at all times. Aggressive or disruptive behaviour, before or after classes will not be tolerated and will be dealt with at the discretion of the school.
Smoking, alcohol and illegal substances are not permitted on the premises. Severe cases will be dealt with legally and may result in expulsion.
It is our commitment to you to deal with concerns and disputes fairly and respectfully, and we kindly ask for the same in return.
Practice is fundamental to development in the performing arts. It is the responsibility of the tutor to instruct and guide students during classes, but it is the student’s and parent’s responsibility to ensure that adequate practice is observed at home. In certain disciplines it may be a requirement to continued tuition with Cedar MPA.
Where applicable, uniforms must be worn at all times and be in a clean and presentable condition. Students may be asked to remove garments which do not fall within uniform guidelines.
Either party may terminate their membership at any time with no less than one month’s prior written notice. Notice should be emailed to email@example.com and received prior to the 1st of the month, to take effect before the following payment date. Notice received after the 1st day of the month will only take effect from the following month and remain payable.
